The scope of LAMI – TECH Research Project (a partnership of Novotech with Leonardo – Aircraft) was to investigate and manufacturing innovative configuration and processing of CFRP multi-layer materials using Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) process capabilities available at Novotech Plant in Avetrana. Several test trials involving both flat and double curvature panels, made of Thermoset and Thermoplastic, pre-pregs and Dry Fiber materials were performed. A further goal was the definition and implementation of experimental procedures for manufacturing multifunctional structures by automated technology, in particular panel having acoustic damping capabilities and lightning strike protection were manufactured.
