The Commercial Port of Castellammare di Stabia hosted a milestone event for the aerospace sector in Campania and for environmental protection. During the watertightness tests of the Seagull seaplane, designed by Novotech in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, the spotlight was on the FB EYE system, an innovative technology developed by ALI S.p.A. – Space Factory Group together with Euro.soft Srl and TopView Srl.
The FB EYE system is capable of pinpointing the exact ignition point of wildfires with extreme precision, enabling immediate and effective interventions in both prevention and firefighting. Its development was made possible thanks to funding from the ESA (European Space Agency) and the ASI (Italian Space Agency) within the ARTES 4.0 program, proving how space research can be transformed into tangible solutions for environmental safety.
The Seagull’s sea trials were coordinated by Novotech, in cooperation with Yes Automation & Maintenance Srl and Trasporti Iannario Srl, under the close supervision of the Harbormaster’s Office of Castellammare di Stabia, represented by C.F. (CP) Andrea Pellegrino and C.C. (CP) Luca Giotta, with logistical and technical support from Stabia Main Port.
For Prof. Leonardo Lecce, founder and CEO of Novotech, this is a key achievement: «Today we took an important step toward the qualification of Seagull. I would like to thank the institutions, particularly the Harbormaster’s Office, and the industrial partners who helped make this test possible».
The success of the trials confirms the effectiveness of the FB EYE system as a groundbreaking technology for wildfire prevention, while showcasing the ability of Campania’s industrial ecosystem to combine aerospace innovation with environmental protection.
