NOVOTECH Aerospace Advanced Technology Srl, active in the field of the next generation aircraft transportation system (UAM) and advanced composite production technologies, exhibits from 25 to 27 April (Start Up Area – Stand E57) at JEC World, the only global trade show dedicated to composite materials and applications.
Taking place in Paris, JEC World is the industry’s leading annual event, hosting all the major players in a spirit of innovation, business and networking. JEC World has become a celebration of composites and a “think tank” featuring hundreds of product launches, awards ceremonies, competitions, conferences, live demonstrations and networking opportunities. All these features unite to make JEC World a global festival for business, discovery and inspiration.
NOVOTECH has proven capability in design and manufacturing of composite structures based on low cost and out-of-autoclave automated production processes (as AFP, PCM, RTM and LRI). Company can count on researchers and qualified engineers for the development and manufacturing of composite prototypes, if required serial production, with complex shapes and variable thickness based on advanced design methodologies for draping and formability and composite warpage prediction
The Company operate from 8 years a Coriolis Composite (France) Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) machine, for manufacturing of aircraft structural components (stiffened panels, frame, etc.), hydrogen tank, and other complex structures.
Using this capabilities NOVOTECH has been selected and is working with AVIO Space developing cry-tank for space application and MBDA for application of AFP technology to structural components of its interest.
NOVOTECH has been and is involved currently in several EU funded R6D projects dealing with advance process and development of new thermoplastic materials.
With the aim to take the use of composite materials to the next level, the EU-funded NHYTE project (coordinated by NOVOTECH since 2017) has developed new efficient concepts and methodologies to enable the realization of innovative and green integrated aero-structures produced by a novel recyclable hybrid thermoplastic composite material with multifunctional capabilities. This new hybrid material is fabricated by an innovative press developed in the frame of the project, which implements Continuous Compressed Moulding (CCM) automated production processes.
NOVOTECH, using this press, has developed and patented a new hybrid composite material, consisting of sequences of layers based on reinforcing fabrics in polymer matrices, metal alloy sheets and elastomeric films.
NOVOTECH recently joins the Collins-led Consortium (COCOLIH2T) to develop new thermoplastics technology for the liquid hydrogen tanks necessary to power hydrogen propulsion architectures in future more sustainable aircraft. NOVOTECH will conduct an analysis of the aircraft certification to define proper tank requirements. Production of lamina, coupons, elements/details will be carried out by NOVOTECH with aim to identify and setup the best chain of materials, manufacturing processes and related process parameters to be used to produce the final demonstrators. NOVOTECH will manufacture the final full-size tank according to the design specifications that will be agreed with other partners.
Recently, NOVOTECH is involved in the design and manufacturing of the SEAGULL, a high performing ultralight amphibian aircraft with hybrid-electric motorization, easy and economical. A retractile wing makes possible to pass from an aircraft to a hull configuration automatically.
UAM: PARTNERSHIP WITH SOLVAY
Solvay will provide access to its range of thermoset, thermoplastic composites and adhesive materials as well as dedicated technical support to develop the structure of Seagull 107 e_VTOL aircraft.
